Until now – sellers have only been able to list hops that are a maximum of three years old at the Lupulin Exchange. This was to make sure brewers were buying a fresh product and to keep the exchange from getting overcrowded with aging product. However we were never 100% sure that was the right decision
We’ve had lots of request to allow listings with older crop years and had some lively conversation on our community site. The response has been an overwhelming “yes - let people list older crop year and let buyers decide”.
So starting now – sellers can list crop years 2012 to 2017 on the exchange. The exchange will always keep the last six years of crop years on the listing page – just like it has from the start. So on August 1st, 2018 – the 2012 crop year will be removed from the dropdown on the listing page and the 2018 crop year will automatically be added.
Keep in mind that older crop year listings will not fetch a very high price. Also, listings never expire – so you will see older crop years on the exchange if they don’t sell.
As always please let us know if you have questions or other ideas. Thanks!
